The 2019 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19) has ended. The result in one sentence: It was possible to prevent the early allocation of cultural frequencies to mobile radio, but only extensive studies up to the next World Radiocommunication Conference in 2023 (WRC-23) will bring the decision.

It was close. But the compromise of the 2015 World Radiocommunication Conference was not touched. However, culture and media cannot breathe a sigh of relief. Technical and regulatory studies are now beginning. They should show who can use the UHF frequencies more effectively and efficiently: Culture and media (as til now) or mobile?

This means that everyone must continue to work to ensure that sufficient and suitable cultural frequencies are available in the long term – manufacturers, distributors, artists and their respective associations, broadcasters and politicians.
